Special Interest Groups
We know that a large association can be an intimidating place to find your niche. USASBE’s Special Interest Groups are impactful smaller groups in which individual members with similar interests to come together to share their goals, challenges, dreams, and insights. Special Interest Groups are organized, in coordination with the Association, to encourage information and knowledge exchange and development of special programs addressing the specific mission of the SIG and are open to all association members. SIGs are organized organically at USASBE. What works for one SIG does not necessarily work for another. SIG leadership is chosen democratically, and each group is encouraged to use the annual conference as a place to meet face-to-face, share successes from the year and begin to plan next endeavors. Examples of activities the SIGs have spearheaded:
- SIG-specific Awards
- Research Fellowship
- Special Dinners
- Fundraising
- Learning Journeys prior to conferences
- Symposia
- EE&P Special Issues
- Collaborative Papers
- Certifications
- LinkedIn pages
- Joint papers and presentations
- Virtual Meetups
- Webinars and information sharing sessions
To join a SIG, there are two steps:
- Indicate that you are interested in the SIG by going to your member compass, clicking "profile" on the left-hand sidebar, and adding the SIG under the "Special Interest Groups" heading. You may join as many SIGs as you'd like. Make sure to save your profile to ensure you have joined the SIG.
- To interact with other SIG members, find the SIG-specific community page or member directory at the button below. Access is only permitted to USASBE members.
