USASBE Doctoral Consortium for Teaching and Learning in Entrepreneurship
Applications will open in the fall
Academic careers involve both research and teaching, yet many doctoral consortia emphasize only traditional research. The USASBE Doctoral Consortium, however, is different. The 2026 USASBE consortium will immerse students in the world of teaching and learning entrepreneurship, preparing them to both boldly teach in the field, as well as engage thoughtfully with entrepreneurship scholarship. Our program focuses on all of the primary aspects of being an excellent scholar: teaching, research, and service.
The 2026 USASBE Doctoral Consortium will be in-person at the USASBE 2026 Annual Conference taking place February 18-21, 2026. The on-site portion of the doctoral consortium will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
There will be one virtual meeting of the doctoral consortium, likely in late January 2026 or early February. After the conference the doctoral consortium will continue with a handful of online sessions in March, April, and May.
Building community through shared experiences is an important component of the USASBE Doctoral Consortium. Each participant will be matched with a dedicated mentor (leading entrepreneurship scholar/educator). Participants will also be assigned to a team (3-4 participants) to work on an entrepreneurship education and pedagogy group project. Teams can work on original research on entrepreneurship education or some form of pedagogical learning innovation. Team assignments will be based on shared interests and developed through an interactive activity held during a team building workshop. Final project outcomes (research proposal or learning innovation) will be presented during a virtual Demo Day in May.

Many attendees may find that the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) through the ESTA website is sufficient, but some attendees may need or choose to have U.S. visas issued prior to travel to the U.S. Check the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs for the most up-to-date information on how to apply for your U.S. visa.
The Visa Waiver Program enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of up to 90 days, without first obtaining a visa. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel.
If you need or prefer to have a visa in your passport, or if you plan to stay in the U.S. for longer than 90 days, you may apply for a visitor (B-1/B-2) visa through a U.S. consulate or embassy. Individuals applying for a visa will first need to submit an electronic application form, known as the DS-160 Non-Immigrant Visa Electronic Application form. Once that form is completed, you will need to schedule an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate. In some cases, the interview requirement may be waived, and you may be able to apply for the visa by post.
