  • All applicants will be notified of their status by Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST

Costs and Expectations 

  • $999 participation fee to cover supplies, materials, events and activities provided to the Class of 2020 USASBE Teaching and Learning Scholars.
  • For non-USASBE members, there will be an additional $125 membership fee
  • If accepted into the Class of 2020, you will be expected to attend the USASBE Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana from January 3-7, 2020. Please note that your $999 participation fee DOES NOT cover conference expenses such as registration, lodging and travel.
  • Other than the conference events and activities, all mentoring, working groups, peer engagement and learning journey progress will occur through virtual means such as MoodleCloud, Zoom and Google Drive. You will be expected to fully participate in these activities which will occur 2-3 times per month.

  • Interpret and develop your ideas with input and inspiration from amazing people who understand the ins, outs, politics, craziness and fun of academic institutions
  • Benefit from unique experiences & lessons learned across academic institutions Learn how others have gained support, found resources, and developed ideas at colleges and universities
  • Iterate, fail and succeed in a low risk environment before a full beta test at your institution

Project Examples:

  • Create a new course
  • Revise a textbook Build a new speaker series for your campus
  • Create learning tools and techniques that can be used in entrepreneurship classrooms around the world
  • Create an entrepreneurship faculty development program for your institution
  • Establish a new research endeavor

  • October, November and December 2019: 
    • Work virtually with USASBE TLS Alums to refine your concept Register and prepare for the USASBE Annual Conference
    • January 3-7 Finalize payments for the USASBE TLS Program
  • January 3-7: 
    • Attend the USASBE Annual Conference in New Orleans!
    • Attend a day long workshop where the Class of 2020 will get to know each other, share their projects and begin to refine their work based on peer feedback.
    • Attend a networking reception to celebrate the kickoff of the Class of 2020 and network with alumni from the Class of 2019.
  • January-November 2020:
    • Work in smaller, alumni lead, virtual peer teams to develop, refine implement, scale and share your project with continuous input, feedback and inspiration from others.
    • Progress through a learning journey based on entrepreneurial development techniques such as customer discovery, customer validation and the business model canvas as applied to educational innovations.
  • December 2020
    • Wrap up the program
    • Document best practices
    • Create plans to share your work in the future
    • Consider becoming involved in the USASBE Teaching and Leaning Scholars Alumni Program
  • January 2021
    • Attend graduation and present your work at the USASBE Annual Conference
    • If you are unable to attend the 2021 conference, your graduation materials will be sent to you.
