Apply Now for 2021 Longenecker Fellows Mentorship Program

Are you an experienced researcher looking to refresh your research interest, extend or enhance your current publishing efforts in some way, or perhaps explore taking on an editorial role?

Are you an instructor with three or more years of experience interested in pivoting your classroom approach or perhaps changing organizations or career direction?

Are you a center director or program manager looking to develop your center, program, or career through networks with others who have and/or are doing so?

Are you in a situation where uncertainty and ambiguity is clouding your vision of your future career?
If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, then now is your chance to apply to the 2021 Longenecker Fellows Mentorship (LFM) program!
We are currently looking for individuals with three or more years of experience who are looking for help with developing their careers. Below are frequently asked questions that should provide you with a basic understanding of the program, its benefits and requirements, and application procedures and deadlines.
What are the benefits of the program?

  • Network with Longenecker Fellows to gain insight into their career development experience
  • Learn strategies to pivot and/or further develop your career
  • Connect with other motivated career professionals
  • Engage in discussion about topics relevant to the direction of entrepreneurship education
What do I have to do to participate?

  1. Apply for the program by the October 4 program deadline
  2. Register for and attend the USASBE 2021 Virtual Event
  3. Participate in the Longenecker Fellows Mentorship Virtual Workshop at USASBE 2021 (no extra charge)
  4. Agree to participate in the three webinars held throughout 2021
  5. Use your mentor(s) to help connect you with resources, opportunities, or ideas.
  6. Maintain active USASBE Membership throughout 2021

What will I be required to do as part of the program?

  1. Attend a two-hour virtual introduction session with all prospective mentors and mentees held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 3 p.m. CST as part of the USASBE 2021 Annual Event. During this session, you will have the opportunity to engage organically with the various Longenecker Fellows in order to identify a meaningful mentoring connection.
  2. Continue to connect with your mentor(s) throughout the conference as you network, attend and learn from sessions, and meet exhibitor and sponsors.
  3. Set up times to chat with your mentor throughout the year as you set your professional goals and seek to attain them. Participate in three webinars held throughout 2021 which are intended to allow all LFM program participants to connect on topics they identify as relevant to the group.

Who are the mentors?

Mentors are experienced researchers, educators, program directors, and practitioners. Examples include Dr. Jeff Hornsby, Dr. Candida Brush, Dr. Norman Scarborough, Dr. Tony Mendes, and more!
How much does the program cost?

There is no direct cost to participate in the 2021 program, but you must be a member of USASBE and register to participate in the USASBE 2021: Be Boldly Unscripted event.
