The Technology and Entrepreneurship Special Interest Group is pleased to announce the launch of the Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate Program.

The USASBE Special Interest Certificate program began in 2012 with the introduction of the Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Program. That program, which has now graduated three classes with a fourth expected to graduate in May, 2015, has proven to be extremely popular and very successful. Inspired by the success of that program, USASBE is expanding the certificate program to other special interest areas.

Technology has been the main driver of the US economy for decades and most would agree that creativity and innovation will lead us to higher levels of performance and prosperity. While technology has long been the realm of science and engineering colleges, the importance of technology and innovation is rapidly spreading across a wide range of departments and colleges in the US and abroad.

MODULE ONE: Introduction to Technology Entrepreneurship.

MODULE TWO: Opportunity Design.

MODULE THREE:   Intellectual Property Strategies.

MODULE FOUR : Opportunity Development I.

MODULE FIVE: Opportunity Development II.

MODULE SIX: Financing the Technology Startup.

MODULE SEVEN : Managing the Venture.

MODULE EIGHT: Teaching Technology Entrepreneurship (Capstone).

Modules 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be presented May 18th & 19th, 2015 at the Midwest Symposium on Technology Commercialization in Kansas City, co-hosted by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the University of Missouri- Kansas City, in collaboration with USASBE.

The Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate is ideally suited for faculty who are considering a new course or program in Technology Entrepreneurship, in their discipline or together with faculty in other disciplines, or others who wish to improve a current course or program with state-of-the- art curriculum enhancements. Participants may also include industry leaders, technology transfer professionals or entrepreneurs interested in the latest trends in all key phases of the Technology Commercialization process. The final deliverable of the program is a fully developed syllabus or a business plan for a technology venture.

The cost for the Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate, including attendance in eight modules, assessment of a final deliverable from the enrollee, and all resources provided is $1,700.

The Midwest Symposium on Technology Entrepreneurship offers a forum to continue the advancement of technology  entrepreneurship thinking, teaching and practice. Through an exchange of knowledge and experience, nonprofit practitioners, social entrepreneurs, teachers, researchers and funders share ideas and learning focused on promoting successful social entrepreneurship.

This highly participative symposium includes the opportunity to attend and take part in a number of workshops developed and delivered by leading faculty in the field of technology entrepreneurship and the commercialization of innovations developed in various disciplines and contexts. The symposium will also allow its participants to tap into the existing experiences and expertise of those experiencing and supporting technology entrepreneurship.

The Symposium registration fee is waived for enrollees in the USASBE Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate Program. Also, on Sunday, May 17th at 5:00 p.m., enrollees in the Certificate Program are invited to a welcoming reception.
