COLEMAN FOUNDATION – USASBE SCHOLARSHIPS COLEMAN FOUNDATION – USASBE SCHOLARSHIPS are a series of scholarships offered by the COLEMAN FOUNDATION in partnership with USASBE which are designed to promote interest and advancement in entrepreneurship as well as new faculty interest and participation in USASBE.  The scholarship series includes General Conference Scholarships; Small School Scholarships; and Community College Scholarships that are available to United States educators with an interest in entrepreneurship.
 
COLEMAN – USASBE GENERAL CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
are available to all educators.  Two scholarship classes are offered: "First and Second Year Scholarships", which fund the entire conference registration fee ($400 regular, $325 for students. USASBE membership fee of $125 not included), requires recipient to have received no more than one Coleman – USASBE General Scholarship previously (fresh applicants are welcome); and Third Year Scholarships, which fund a part of the conference registration fee ($300) (USASBE membership fee of $125 not included), requires recipient to have received a Coleman – USASBE Scholarship two previous times. If you have already received the Coleman – USASBE Scholarship in three previous years, you are no longer eligible for this scholarship.
 
COLEMAN – USASBE SMALL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
are for educators from 4 year schools. “Small school” is defined as having an enrollment of no more than 4,500.  Enrollment refers to full-time equivalent student and includes all campuses, schools, colleges, programs of the college or university, both graduate and undergraduate.  Verification of the FTE student enrollment from the registrar, admissions office or other academic officer responsible for the reporting of actual FTE enrollment must accompany the registration materials.  Two scholarship classes are offered: First Year Scholarships, which fund the conference registration fee ($400) and provide up to $325 toward hotel related expenses (USASBE membership fee of $125 not included); and Second Year Scholarships, which fund the conference registration fee ($400) and provide up to $200 toward hotel related expenses.  Second Year Scholarship requires recipient to have received a Small School Scholarship the previous year.
 
COLEMAN – USASBE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS are for educators from community colleges.  Scholarships fund conference registration fee ($400) and provides up to $325 toward hotel related expenses (USASBE membership fee of $125 not included). If an individual was a recipient of a Small School Scholarship in previous year, but elects to apply for a Community College Scholarship for 2008 the application will be treated as a second year scholarship and funded at the $600 level as is the case for second year Small School Scholarships.
 
 
COLEMAN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:  Applicants must submit a one-page statement (from the application page) of their interest in entrepreneurship and how they feel they will benefit from attending the Conference and membership in USASBE.  Applicant must include, if applicable for scholarship for which they are applying, student enrollment of institution, type of institution (i.e. Community College, etc.) and the years and types of previous Coleman – USASBE Scholarship(s) they have received.
 
 
USASBE DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM APPLICATION & DOCTORAL CANDIDATE SCHOLARSHIPS

The USASBE Doctoral Consortium 2008 has been fully booked, and we are no longer accepting applications for the consortium or for the doctoral scholarship.
 
The USASBE Doctoral Candidate Scholarship is only available to doctoral students who are accepted for and attend the USASBE Doctoral Consortium which is sponsored by the Association for the purpose of promoting doctoral studies in entrepreneurship. USASBE DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM is open to students pursuing doctoral degrees with an active interest in any of the many dimensions of entrepreneurship.  The consortium offers an excellent way to meet other students pursuing a career in entrepreneurship as well as leading educators in the field.

Application Deadline: December 1, 2007
 
To participate in the Doctoral Consortium and receive the Doctoral Scholarship, recipient must be a current doctoral student in good standing in an approved doctoral degree program with an emphasis/interest in entrepreneurship and:
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from doctoral program director and/or professors.
  • Full contact information including email address
    (both letters of recommendation and applicant contact information should be submitted as a single MS-Word file)
Upon acceptance (limited to 15 applicants) the students agrees to attend the doctoral consortium and:
  • Submit two well-conceived, partially developed research questions that interest the doctoral student. This submission should include the following for each of the two questions:
    • Cogent statement of the general research question plus any particular subsets of this general question
    • Genesis of this research question supported by academic citations with quotes if available.
    • Suggested research design including proposed measurement and analysis methodologies.
    • Potential contribution(s) the extant corpus of entrepreneurship research
  • Submission of two names of known entrepreneurship scholars/teachers with whom, if they are in attendance at USASBE in San Antonio, you would like to have a sit down conversation (if the organizers can arrange it.)
  • Agreement to read and come ready to discuss all written material assigned and sent by email attachment.
Scholarship funding will cover conference registration fee ($400) and up to $350 toward hotel related expenses (USASBE membership fee of $75 is not covered by scholarship).  Funding of scholarship is based on attendance and participation in Doctoral Consortium designated tracks along with all other Conference program activities.
 
 
Funding of scholarship is based on attendance and participation at all Conference program activities, payment in full of Conference registration fee (it is OK to complete your consortium/scholarship application before registering for the conference, but if your application is approved, you must register for the conference and pay your fees in order for scholarship funds to be released to you), payment of USASBE membership fee ($125) and providing proper documentation as may be required.
 
Finally, there are a limited number of scholarships in each category and they will be awarded on first-come, first-served basis for those who meet the requirements, have paid the conference registration fee and USASBE membership fee and are approved.
