USASBE Research Statement

The focus of our research is on entrepreneurship education and the overall impact of all types of entrepreneurship research on the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship. From a conference perspective this simply means all research submissions will need to articulate some implications for how the work informs entrepreneurship education.

But, USASBE is much more than a conference organization, and we value academic scholarship more than ever! We aim to make a meaningful impact on the field of entrepreneurship education and research is a core component of how we can do that. Skeptical? That’s still ok, just look what’s underway…

(1)   The USASBE doctoral consortium prepares students to boldly teach entrepreneurship and engage in relevant entrepreneurship education scholarship.

(2)   USASBE has partnered with SAGE Publishing to launch a new journal, Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy, an official sister journal to Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice. in your email inbox this summer when submissions are officially being accepted.

(3)   USASBE has begun work on Volume 3 of the Annals of Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy.

(4)   Research tracks in our conference structure include:

a.     Competitive papers track for topics related to entrepreneurship education.  Of course, traditional research is accepted but submissions must address how the research impacts the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship.

b.     Emerging research track for those at the early stages of a research study. Presenters give a short summary of their proposed research question, methodology and impact/outcomes, describe the impact of their research on entrepreneurship education, and be prepared to receive critical and developmental feedback on next steps.

c.     Provocative research panels for researchers who have published complementary or contradictory findings to important research questions. Although research questions from all fields of entrepreneurship are welcome, authors must discuss how their questions are relevant to entrepreneurship education. The objective is to showcase the dynamic and developing issues around various topics and how the topics ultimately inform the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship.

(5)   We are always working with journals to create special issues that are aligned with USASBE’s mission.

USASBE advocates high quality entrepreneurship research and work to emphasize the impact of our work on the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship.  We strive to be more relevant and develop evidence that what we do works.  We have an obligation to entrepreneurship students of all types to be at the cutting-edge.
