Revisions to the USASBE Articles of Incorporation

ARTICLE IV - PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION

Current:
Purpose for which the Association was created and incorporated, is the overreaching mission of creating the next generation of entrepreneurs through teaching and research in the advancement and improvement of knowledge, techniques, and skills in the promotion and advancement of entrepreneurial education and research. Mission will focus on the delivery of educator tools in the best practice areas of pedagogy, courses and programs and the promotion of entrepreneurship research related to education, venture creation/small business and public policy. The evaluation of achievement of the stated mission will be the determination of “value creation” in business formation; public policy; social and economic impact; and the institutional legitimacy of entrepreneurial education.

Passed Revision:
USASBE is an inclusive community advancing entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship, and practice.

For the purposes of the Association, entrepreneurship education is defined as the cultivation of knowledge, mindsets, skills, and competencies to enable learners to identify and act on opportunities, engage in ventures, and innovate throughout their lives.

The USASBE community is comprised of
  • EDUCATORS who share best practices but also challenge existing paradigms of how entrepreneurs should be taught, to whom, and to what ends.
  • SCHOLARS who develop theoretical and conceptual foundation that move the practice of entrepreneurship education forward as well as empirically test and support it current impact.
  • PROGRAM DIRECTORS & PRACTITIONERS of all types that complement and supplement classroom-based entrepreneurship education with practical immersion experiences in the broader entrepreneurship community.
Adherence to this mission shall be the underlying principle upon which all activities and initiatives of the Association shall be guided and upon which the success of the Association shall be judged.



 ARTICLE IV (Organizational Structure) Section 5, A, 2

Current:
The committee will assure that all candidates nominated are members of USASBE in good standing, demonstrate an interest in the mission and affairs of the Association and have been a member of USASBE for the past three (3) years.

Passed Revision:
The committee will assure that all candidates nominated are members of USASBE in good standing, demonstrate an interest in the mission and affairs of the Association and have been a member of USASBE for a minimum three (3) of the past five (5) calendar years, and in good standing in the calendar year prior to their nomination.



  ARTICLE IV (Organizational Structure) Section 5, A, 4

Current:
Within ten (10) days after the date established for the close of voting, the Executive Director shall submit a detail report to the Nominating Committee as to the results of the election. The Committee will then certify results no later than twenty (20) days after the close of balloting and issue to the members a certification of the election results. Prior to the issue of certification, the Executive Director shall notify all candidates individually of the certified results.

Passed Revision:
