National Foodworks Services (a food incubator located in Decatur, IL) and ADM are launching the first Food Innovation Challenge. Seven Millikin University students from 5 disciplines have worked together for 2 months to help launch this entrepreneurial event.
This is a great opportunity for aspiring food entrepreneurs or newly formed food businesses to take a recipe from a concept to a commercial reality. The goal is to launch new food product businesses in the food retail industry. Lofty goals for sure - but there are major partners who want to make this a reality!
The grand prize is $50,000 + $50K of in-kind services from the new food incubator.
Applications are due May 16th. Visit the website for application details and rules. http://www.foodinnovationchallenge.com/about/
Any resident of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin or Michigan is eligible to apply this year. Next year the goal is to make the event a national draw.
