SIG Spotlight- Minority and Women Entrepreneurship

At this year's conference, we are addressing the most pressing issues still facing women and minority entrepreneurs left behind in the new wave of entrepreneurial activity and success. Consequently, we have sessions on women's venture financing and how women might pursue funding from a more practical perspective, as well as what can be learned from extant research and best practices of women's
We also hold a forum on Minority Business Centers with a panel of leaders who have direct experience and success supporting minority entrepreneurs. Session leaders represent Black, Latino and Native American entrepreneurship centers and support organizations, such as Interise.
To further address disparities in the venture success of two low-performing groups of entrepreneurs, a research publishing session on Black and Latino Entrepreneurship is being held with interactive activities for attendees. Everyone is sure to learn something from attending!
Finally, we also hope to have a great turnout for the SIG social, as we begin the long-term objective of building a research database of ethnic-minority entrepreneurs, and celebrating achievements in minority entrepreneurship research and practice.
We’ve gathered up a dynamic leadership team who are spearheading the SIG activities and goals. I couldn’t have done it without a hardworking and committed group of folks.
