The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship Embracing the value art provides to develop innovative ideas, design, business and healthy communities is a vital and relevant reason for every person on this planet to receive an art education. And yet, as artists, we see and experience the daily struggle to find the necessary financial support which will ensure arts education can be sustainably delivered to everyone. The solution to this problem lies in the framework of STE[+a]M education; where science, technology, engineering, and math are joined with the arts. This approach to educating K-12, thanks to Chicago Arts Partnership in Education (CAPE), and others following in their footsteps, will ensure the future of the arts because interdisciplinary education fundamentally changes the way our children think; which profoundly helps them to advance in the world in brand new ways. My name is Lisa Canning and I am the Executive Director of The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship (http://www.IAE.com) here in Chicago. For those of you who are not familiar with IAE, we just moved into a new space at 1821 W Hubbard (http://www.iaeou.me) and recently announced two partnership. The first with the University of California- San Diego (http://steammanifesto.com) and the second with Princess Taghrid's Institute for Arts and Handicrafts in Amman, Jordan. The goal of our partnerships is to advance adult education to shape and prepare artists, technology and science researchers with the leadership and business skills to be successful in our 21st Century global market. We seek to educate and place the highest level of artists into interdisciplinary work inside of corporations and science labs~ as well as into their own businesses. IAE is now offering 7 courses to deliver the training we believe every 21st Century artist needs. All our courses are accredited through UCSD's Accreditation Board - the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) ensuring the high level of instruction is met and maintained. Our goal is to prove that arts based learning, when embedded into other high-stakes-for-profit disciplines, has profound economic benefit; as well as establish a new professional pursuit for artists to be well paid and highly regarded in new ways. Additionally, we believe that a global perspective in the arts and cultural sector is increasingly required to excel in today's highly connected world. Which is why in the fall of 2013 we are rolling out our first international educational partnership with Princess Taghrid's Institute for Arts and Handicrafts Development in Amman, Jordan. (http://www.pti-jo.com/) Our goal will be to create online interactive educational coursework for our students to collaborate with other cultures; as well as exchange programs for our students to be able to take our courses and immerse themselves creatively in another culture. If our missions, vision, and values speak to you, I would like to personally invite you into our growing community. Our classes start with a 3- day intensive. The next one is from January 4-6, 2013. This single course is our only pre-requisite to take any of the rest of our course offerings. Our accredited course work is really affordable so that it can be an easy decision for you to participate. I would be happy to hear from you and to chat further about our program and to answer any questions you may have. You can reach me directly at Lisa@theIAE.com To learn more about the Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship and our courses go to http://.theIAE.com Click on Chicago Classes or better yet, pick up the phone and call or text me 847.774.2938.
