GROUP ANNUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Annually as an element of the Association’s strategic planning process, the
Group develops a work plan that outlines goals and objectives for the program year. Outlined below are annual goals and objectives adopted by the
Group:
- WORKSHOPS ON CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION. Creativity and innovation are important to the entrepreneurial process of all types of organization. The interest group has the opportunity to develop workshops to spread knowledge on these topics to both USASBE members and outside groups. A Professional Development Workshop on creativity in entrepreneurship was held at the San Antonio meeting in 2008, reached full capacity, and received excellent ratings from participants. Interest was strong among participants for future activities on creativity and innovation. Efforts have begun to bring similar workshops to various locations around the country. The interest group will pursue other similar activities in the future.
- FEATURED PRESENTATIONS AT THE USASBE CONFERENCE. Corporate entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial strategy, creativity, and innovation are topics explored by many top scholars. One goal of the interest group is to bring scholars to the USASBE conference to share their insights with members. Such knowledge exchange will stimulate high caliber research at the USASBE conference. At the 2008 USASBE Conference, the interest group awarded Dr. Jeff Covin of Indiana University its outstanding scholar award. Dr. Covin also presented a seminar on the latest developments in corporate entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial strategy. The interest group will also invite top managers to share on these topics in similar sessions in the future.
- HIGH CALIBER RESEARCH. The focus of the interest group will be high caliber research and the advancement of scholarship. Excellence will be the standard rather than numbers of accepted papers. It is the interest group’s belief that setting a high standard will attract better quality in submissions. Expecting thorough reviews of papers by reviewers will assist in setting this standard. The 2008 USASBE Conference evidenced higher quality submissions and presentations as compared to previous years.
