GROUP MISSION
 The Social Entrepreneurship SIG seeks to facilitate the efforts of persons engaged in the study of Social Entrepreneurship, scholars who train social entrepreneurs, and persons training to become social entrepreneurs. 

 

Group objectives:

 

Teaching: The Social Entrepreneurship SIG seeks to support pedagogy development in social entrepreneurship by:

  • Providing direct training,

  • Maintaining a forum for regular dialog among social entrepreneurship educators, and

  • Maintaining a database of teaching materials.

 

Research: The Social Entrepreneurship SIG seeks to support research in social entrepreneurship by:

  • Providing both live and online forums in which scholars with similar interests can meet, discuss their work, and obtain feedback on work at various stages of development.

  • Partnering with the editorial staffs of relevant journals to enhance outlets for social entrepreneurship research.

GROUP MEMBERSHIP
 
A member of USASBE in good standing, that has professional interest in the specific field of the Group and wishes to pursue expansion and promotion of the field and personal advancement through knowledge exchange and participation in the mission of the Group, is eligible for membership.
 
GROUP ANNUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
  

Goals for 2016:

 

  • Develop a networking forum for SIG members to collaborate on Social Entrepreneurship issues in teaching, research and community assistance.

  • Collaborate with the editors of the Journal of Ethics in Entrepreneurship to create a special issue related to social entrepreneurship.

  • Increase awareness of the Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Program.

  • Create a database of teaching materials in Social Entrepreneurship.

  • Create a database for the materials used in the Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

  • Work with other SIGS to create workshops and symposia for the annual conference.

The Social Entrepreneurship Interest Group’s goal is to widen the ‘tent’ of social entrepreneurship and to collaborate with faculty networks including Academy of Management, ICSB and the University Network and practitioner networks and groups such as Ashoka, Social Enterprise Alliance and the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship and others to bring everyone together to share resources and best practices in the field.
